Lavender Winter Damage and changes to the Finger Lakes Lavender Festival.

After evaluating our lavender field it has been determined that we have lost our more tender Intermedia (Grosso) lavender that blooms in July as a result of our frigid cold winter.  It is because of this reason that we will not be able to offer our usual U-Pick lavender bouquets this year.  Our plan at this point is to replace some of the Intermedia and introduce a hardier variety in its place to rebuild our U-pick in the future.

An additional feature of the 2014 Finger Lakes Lavender Festival will be a celebration of our farm’s 150th birthday at Lockwood Lavender Farm.  This FREE event offers a day of presentations, crafts, artisans, culinary delights and the Lavender Market.   Make sure you take time to sign our birthday card.

The United States Lavender Growers Association has reported this year’s harsh winter has affected growers across the country with great loss that will affect this year’s harvest.  In our 13 years growing lavender we have not experience such a loss as this year.  Check our website for information about the Finger Lakes Lavender Festival.    www.fingerlakeslavenderfestival.blogspot.com

We want to thank you in advance for your continued support to our family farm.
